Husson Women's Volleyball Falls to Southern Maine, 3-1

GORHAM, Maine - The Husson University women's volleyball team fell to University of Southern Maine 3-1 (25-17, 25-9, 17-25, 25-8) Tuesday evening in a non-conference match at the Warren Hill Gymnasium.

The win was the third straight for the Huskies who improved to 8-3 overall.  The Eagles dropped to 7-8 overall.

USM took the first two sets in convincing fashion. Jess Williamson racked up five kills in the second set, and junior Robbi Termentozzi and rookie Megan Gettings had three kills apiece.

Husson grabbed the momentum to win the third set as rookie Mary Grace Power and junior Nia
Arranaga combined for seven kills.

Southern Maine reasserted itself in the fourth set, as Williamson was nearly unstoppable at the net swinging for seven kills on eight attempts.  Termentozzi added four kills on four attempts in the final set.

Williamson finished the match with a match-high 21 kills. Termentozzi had eight kills on 15 attacks, and Gettings contributed seven kills.  Senior Megan Nilson passed out 24 assists, and sophomore Nicole Schmitz had 15 assists.  Rookie Taylor Ziska led all players with 17 digs.

Power led the Eagles with nine kills, and junior Bailey Cote chipped in with six kills.  Arranaga finished with five kills and a match-high six service aces.  Freshman Hanna Hembrow had 11 assists and classmate Delaney Chisholm had 10 assists.  Chisholm also had 11 digs to finish with a double-double.

Southern Maine is back in action on Thursday (7:00 p.m.) hosting Salem State University at the Hill Gym for a non-conference match.  Husson will travel to Hartford, Conn. on Saturday (3:00 p.m.) for a tri-match with Trinity and Wesleyan University.
