- The teams traded great chances in the opening half, including a fantastic opportunity for Bates with under 18 minutes to go in the period. Eric Opoku came loose on the left side of the box and curved a hard shot towards the right post that was swept aside by Bowdoin's Stevie Van Siclen
- Bates' Robbie Montanaro returned the favor with 10:30 remaining in the half as a header by Bowdoin'sMoctar Niang seemed destined for the net, only to be punched out by the Bobcat netminder, sending the game scoreless into the half
- Bowdoin looked to secure the win with 10:31 left in regulation after a lengthy possession saw Ethan Ellsworth rifle a low, hard shot towards Montanaro. The Bates netminder made the initial stop, but the ball bounced loose in front where Levi Morant hammered home the rebound to give the hosts a 1-0 lead
- The Polar Bears were unable to secure the victory, though, as a backline miscommunication with under five minutes to go saw two Bowdoin defenders attempt to clear the ball unsuccessfully. The ball came to the foot of Nate Merchant, who punched home the game-tying tally with four minutes to go
- Neither team could find the game winner in the extra session as Bowdoin took the only shot of either overtime that was handled by Montanaro
