THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...
.Low pressure will rapidly strengthen as it exits New England to
the northeast later this afternoon. Strong westerly to
southwesterly winds are expected to develop in the wake of this
low from south to north as the afternoon progresses. Wind gusts of
40 to 50 mph will be common, with a brief period of 50 to 60 MPH
gusts quite possible. Winds of this strength will have the
potential to down trees and branches which will likely result in
power outages. Winds are expected to diminish as the evening
progresses.

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 PM EDT
this evening. The High Wind Watch is no longer in effect.
* Winds...Southwest winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph
are likely late this afternoon and early evening. However, a
brief period (1 to 2 hours) of damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph
will be quite possible.
* Timing...Strong winds are likely to develop across central and
Midcoast Maine late afternoon today. Winds are expected to
diminish this evening. The strongest wind gusts are expected
late this afternoon and early evening.
* Impacts...Downed trees and power lines are likely. This will
result in power outages. High profile vehicles may have
difficulty driving, especially on bridges and overpasses. Loose
objects will likely be tossed around.

southern Maine by late afternoon today. Winds are expected to
diminish during the evening.
* Impacts...Downed trees and power lines possible. This would
likely result in some power outages.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph...or
wind gusts 46 to 57 mph...are expected. Winds this strong can

most likely timeframe for the highest wind speeds will be
behind a strong cold front moving from west to east between 5
pm this afternoon and 8 pm this evening.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
lines. Numerous power outages may result.
