Seven Different Goalscorers as Women's Soccer Defeat Cazenovia, 8-0

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The Husson women's soccer team continued their fine scoring form on Sunday afternoon with an 8-0 shutout victory over the Wildcats of Cazenovia in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Christakos Field. Husson is now 4-0-0 in the conference and 5-2-1 overall after scoring 14 goals and conceding a goal in the past week. The Wildcats fall under .500 with a 4-5 record and 2-2 in the NAC.

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The Husson men's soccer team responded to a disappointing first-half performance yesterday with a decisive display in the first half of today's contest against Cazenovia College. Five different goalscorers in the first half as the Eagles defeated the Wildcats, 6-0, to remain unbeaten in the North Atlantic Conference. With the win, Husson is now 5-2-2 and 2-0-1 in the NAC while Cazenovia fall to 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in the conference.

Field Hockey Races to 6-0 Win Against UMF



BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team jumped out to quick four goal lead in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 6-0 win over UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday.
 
The Polar Bears improve to 5-2 overall as the Beavers drop to 3-4.
 
Game Highlights

  • Bowdoin scored three goals in the span of just over a minute. Manveer Sandhu fired a shot from the top of the circle that was deflected by Bailey Prete for the game's first. Sandhu connected with Maya Malenfant for the second.
  • Faith Jennings had an unassisted tally to wrap up the quick scoring flurry.
  • With under five minutes remaining in the first quarter, Hanna Wurdack redirected a tip by Olivia Cunningham.
  • Less than a minute into the second quarter, Sophia Rosati fed Cunningham for another goal.
  • Rosati capped the game with a goal in the final ten minutes, driving in a corner direct from Aubrey Demurjian.

 
By the Numbers

  • Bowdoin took 14 penalty corners in the game and notched 25 shots.
  • The Polar Bears did not allow a shot.
  • Katelyn Rouleau started the game for UMF and made ten saves in the first half of action. Alicia Bridges made three stops in the second.
  • Julia Arsenault played 45 minutes in net and Delaney Bashaw closed out the last 15.

Michaud Nets OT Winner, Grogan Makes 23 Saves in Win Over Bates



STANDISH, Maine – Junior forward Madison Michaud (Presque Isle, Maine) scored off a Kaylee Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) corner kick with 1:39 left in the second overtime period to propel Saint Joseph's College (6-4-0) past Bates College (1-3-2), 1-0, in a non-conference women's soccer match at the SJC Athletics Complex on Sunday afternoon.

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Thomas College Women's Tennis team won five singles points and two doubles points on their way to a 7-2 win over Southern Maine on Wednesday in Waterville. With the win, Thomas moves to 4-4 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 0-4.

Southern Maine Athletics To Honor 2020 Husky Hall of Fame Class on October 17

The 35th Husky Hall of Fame Ceremony is Presented by Army ROTC

GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Department of Athletics will honor its most recent additions to the Husky Hall of Fame as part of its 35th Husky Hall of Fame induction on Sunday, October 17 at the Sheraton at Sable Oaks in South Portland, Maine.  The eight new inductees will bring the total number of former Southern Maine standouts in the Husky Hall of Fame to 235.  Long-time Husky fan and sports anchor Dave Eid, of Channel 13 Sports, will serve as the event’s emcee.

GORHAM, Maine –  Freshman forward Catriona Gould (Freeport, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies’ women’s soccer team has been named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week.  Gould previously earned the honor on September 6.

Men’s Cross Country Takes First Again At Thomas College Invite

WATERVILLE, Maine – The no. 9 regionally-ranked University of Southern Maine men’s cross country team dominated the competition at the Thomas College Cross Country Invitational to bring home their second first-place showing this year on Saturday morning.

WATERVILLE, Maine – For the second straight week, the University of Southern Maine women’s cross country freshman athlete Olivia Mosca (Brewer, ME) finished first at the Thomas College Cross Country Invitational late Saturday morning. HENNIKER, NH – The University of Southern Maine women’s volleyball team suffered two setbacks on Saturday afternoon, the first a five-set heartbreaker to Lasell University and the second, a four-set match to host New England College. Kane Takes Individual Medalist Honors, Huskies Finish Second at Queenan Memorial

CASCO, Maine – University of Southern Maine senior team captain Brogan Kane (Scarborough, ME) shot a tournament-low 74 (+2) en route to co-individual medalist honors as the Huskies finished in second place during the 18th Annual John Queenan Memorial Tournament hosted by the Saint Joseph’s College of Maine at the Point Sebago Golf Club.

#21 Bowdoin Defeats Huskies In Straight Sets

GORHAM, ME – The University of Southern Maine volleyball team welcomed their fans back for their home opener Tuesday evening and were upended 3-0 by no. 21 nationally-ranked Bowdoin College in the Polar Bears opening game of the 2021 slate. The loss sends the Huskies to 2-3 while the guests improve to 1-0.

Two Milestones Reached In Saturday Sweep

STANDISH, ME – After suffering a 3-0 defeat to the University of New England last night, the University of Southern Maine volleyball team competed in their first tri-match of the season playing the Maine Maritime Academy and the Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. Senior Sophie Lindsay and head coach Diane Newell both reached milestones on Saturday. The Huskies took both matches to improve to 2-2 on the young campaign.

Mosca Finishes First, Women’s Cross Country Second in Head-to-Head

GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine women's cross country team hit the ground running on their 2021 slate of games as freshman Olivia Mosca (Brewer, ME) placed first overall in head-to-head competition against Husson University during a 3K run at the Narragansett School.
