AUGUSTA, Maine - On Tuesday, May 20th, work crews will begin removing the pavement on Mount Vernon Avenue in Augusta. This is in preparation for the temporary pavement that will be applied on Wednesday. If crews are unable to complete the paving, they will resume on Thursday and Friday, weather permitting.
This "milling" will be on Mount Vernon Avenue from Bond Street to the entrance of the University of Maine at Augusta. Travelers will see flagger controlled alternating one-way traffic and should expect delays.
This is temporary paving to improve the existing condition of the road for motorists until the full reconstruction of Mount Vernon Avenue begins next season.
