A Merryspring summer tradition, Wendy’s series is designed to demonstrate techniques and tips to help your perennial garden thrive throughout the year. June is a crucial month for perennials, as they need to be pruned and managed correctly to ensure growth and blooming all summer. This interactive tour of the perennial beds will cover the basics of perennial gardening, including pinching, pruning, grooming, and supporting plants. Tracy DiSabato-Aust’s book The Well Tended Perennial Garden will serve as a reference for this series, and copies of that book and other gardening items will be for sale after the presentation.
Participants for this talk should meet outside at Merryspring’s gazebo at noon. Guests are reminded to wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing to this event. This talk is part of a continuing series, with a new installment occurring once every three weeks between June and October.
After owning and managing a garden design and maintenance business in Connecticut, Wendy and her husband Ray moved to Camden in 2006. Wendy currently serves as a volunteer at Merryspring, where she
maintains the park's perennial beds.
This presentation is part of the Spring Talk Series at Merryspring, which is being sponsored by The First. Admission to the Tuesday Talks is free to Merryspring members and children, with a nominal $5 fee for non-members.
