Noe Ramirez earns his first win of the season with 3 hitless innings
Manchester, New Hampshire - Portland welcomed back Sean Coyle, who was activated from the disabled list before the game. In the 10th inning with two outs, Coyle nailed the game-winning RBI double with two outs, leading the Portland Sea Dogs (32-15) to a 4-3 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (16-31) on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The Sea Dogs tied a season-high with six straight wins and have won 17 of their last 22 games.
Noe Ramirez (1-0) relieved Mike Augliera after seven innings and worked three hitless innings to earn his first win of the season. Ramirez worked around a lead walk in the ninth, the only baserunner he allowed.
Portland's rally in the 10th began with a lead single from Travis Shaw (1-for-2, 3 BB) off losing pitcher Richard Bleier (2-4). Randy Boone relieved Bleier with two outs, uncorked a wild pitch and allowed Coyle's game-winning hit.
In Coyle's first at-bat since April 28th, he led-off the second with a single and scored on Peter Hissey's
triple. Shannon Wilkerson gave the 'Dogs a 2-0 lead with a sacrifice fly.
In the third, Portland took advantage of sloppy defense for their third run. With two outs, Henry Ramos and Blake Swihart each singled to put runners at the corners. Coyle reached on a bobble by third baseman Andy Burns to plate Ramos.
New Hampshire LF Ryan Schimpf blasted a solo-homer with two-outs in the fourth inning, cutting the 'Dogs lead to 3-1. The homer was the 9th for Schimpf in just 99 at-bats. The Fisher Cats tied the game at three in the fifth inning on a two-run triple by Kenny Wilson.
Portland starter Mike Augliera notched his fifth quality start of the season, working seven innings on five hits, three runs, one walk and three strikeouts. New Hampshire's Casey Lawrence pitched 6.2 innings on six hits and three runs (two earned).
