ROCKLAND, Maine - All Maine Lobster Festival volunteers and supporters are encouraged to attend tonight’s Rockland City Council meeting at 7:00 PM at Rockland City Hall on Pleasant Street to address the $15,000 rental fees waiver.
As a non-profit organization in Rockland, Maine, the Maine Lobster Festival attracts thousands of visitors to the area each year.  The Festival depends solely on volunteers and operates on a tight budget.  To date, the Maine Lobster Festival has given more than $200,000 to local community organizations, including Meals on Wheels, Rockland Area Nursing, local soup kitchens, high school academic and athletic programs, and a number of college scholarships for recent high school graduates.
At their meeting TONIGHT, the Rockland City Council will officially vote to either approve or deny the Maine Lobster Festival’s request to waive the rental fees for the Festival.  In the past, the city has waived the $15,000 fees for the week of the Festival because of the Festival's non-profit status.  This allows the Festival to give back a larger portion of their profits to the community.
All those who volunteer and have benefited from the Festival’s contributions are encouraged to attend the Rockland City Council’s meeting TONIGHT at 7:00 PM. As a member of the Rockland, Maine community, this is a great opportunity for the Rockland City Council to hear your voice and understand how their vote will impact you.

The Maine Lobster Festival attracts thousands of people to Maine’s Midcoast region, and has a long tradition of giving back to the local community.  In recent years, the Festival committee has given more than $500,000 to the local community through support for Midcoast Regional Child Development Services, Trekkers, Meals on Wheels, and much more!  The 67th Annual Maine Lobster Festival will take place July 30 – August 3, 2014.  For more information about the Festival, visit our website at http://www.mainelobsterfestival.com/.
