Maine Lobster Festival Gives To Oceanside High School Class of 2018

Rockland, Maine - On November 30th, 2016, The Maine Lobster Festival Board of Directors has unanimously agreed to donate $1,500 in support of the Oceanside High School Class of 2018.

“The unfortunate circumstance resulting in the loss of Class of 2018 funds has been a difficult one." Said MLF Board President Cynthia Powell. “These students have worked hard to fundraise and they shouldn't have to bear the burden. So many of these kids and their families volunteer their time at the Maine Lobster Festival each year. We appreciate all of their support, and we knew that we had to do something to help. It has always been the mission of the Lobster Festival to give back to our local communities. We are encouraged that other individuals and businesses have already stepped up to assist the Class of 2018, and we hope more will join in that effort.”

A parent volunteer in charge of the bank account for the Class of 2018 is accused of stealing more than $8,000 from the fund for personal use. Students and their families raised the money over a period of three years to be used for graduation expenses for students.
