WATERVILLE, Maine — Lacey Smith, a former Women’s Premier Soccer
League player with three years of collegiate coaching experience, is a
new assistant coach for the Colby College women’s soccer program and
first-year head coach Kristin Shaw.
She comes to Colby from Thomas More College in Kentucky, where she
was an assistant coach for both women’s and men’s teams. In the WPSL,
Smith played for the Ohio Sirens (2016), the Cincinnati Saints (2015),
and the ASA Charge (Md.). She also was a volunteer assistant coach at
Delaware State.
Smith is a graduate of Wesley College in Delaware, where she
captained the 2011 squad and was a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC)
All-Academic Team selection in 2010 and 2011.
“Lacey brings a great positive energy, passion for the game and a
commitment to developing people,” Shaw said. “I am confident that Lacey
will serve as a quality mentor for our student-athletes.”
Smith has stayed active with youth soccer, coaching at Northern
Kentucky Soccer Academy, Coerver Coaching, and No. 1 Soccer Camps.
