Erie, Pa. - The Portland Sea Dogs and Erie SeaWolves were suspended with Portland leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning Tuesday night at Jerry Uht Park. The SeaWolves had two-on with nobody out when the game went into its third delay of the night, before the game was ultimately suspended due to rain.
The two teams will meet again Wednesday morning, beginning at 11:05 AM, and will complete the full nine innings of the suspended game. Following the completion will be the regularly scheduled game, which will now be seven innings.
Portland jumped on the board in the top of the second inning when Matt Spring delivered a two-out, two-run home run off of Erie's starter, Tommy Collier. Keury De La Cruz scored on the blast to right, Spring's third home run of the season.
Mike Augliera had taken the mound for Portland and worked around a two-out double in the first, before the first two hitters reached against him to begin the second. He had tossed just 17 pitches on his abbreviated outing.
The suspended game will resume Wednesday at 11:05 AM with the two runners on and nobody out for Erie in the home half of the second. Game two is slated to be seven innings and will feature the Double-A debut of Portland's righty Luis Diaz (6-3, 3.33 w/Salem) against the SeaWolves' righty Warwick Saupold (3-7, 6.37). Radio coverage begins at 10:45 AM on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network. MiLB.TV coverage starts at 10:55 AM.
