Mosca Finishes First, Women’s Cross Country Second in Head-to-Head

GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine women's cross country team hit the ground running on their 2021 slate of games as freshman Olivia Mosca (Brewer, ME) placed first overall in head-to-head competition against Husson University during a 3K run at the Narragansett School.


RESULTS

 

The Huskies totaled 36 as a team score, 15 points

behind Husson. The navy and gold accumulated an average time of 13:45.52 in their second-place finish.

 

Mosca was about 28 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. She completed the race in 11:25.80 for the top spot. Teammate, senior Rachael Raymond (Waterboro, ME) placed seventh at 13:31.90 while junior Maddie Fornasier (South Burlington, VT) and sophomore Emma Noonan (Steep Falls, ME) rounded out the top-10 Husky finishes at 13:51.30 and 13:52.10.

 

Sophomore Amy Forester  (York, ME) (16:06.50), junior Cassandra Kane (Topsham, ME) (16:20.00), freshman Tatiana Jonk (Gorham, ME) (16:54.40), and junior Jillian Taylor (Hermon, ME) (17.36.50) all took part in the event as well.

 

USM will be back in action on Saturday, September 11th at Thomas College in Waterville, ME.
