Mid Coast Hospital Receives an “A” Patient Safety Grade

One of 63 hospitals nationwide receiving straight A’s since the grades began.

BRUNSWICK, ME – The Leapfrog Group<http://www.leapfroggroup.org/>, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. healthcare system, has released new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades<http://www.hospitalsafetygrade.org/>, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide. Mid Coast Hospital was one of 823 hospitals to receive an “A” for its commitment to reducing errors, infections, and accidents that can harm patients.

Mid Coast Hospital is recognized as one of only 63 hospitals in the nation to have achieved straight A’s since the safety grades began in 2012.

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. Grades are calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
