Hemingway's Guns, Scholar Silvio Calabi
Hemingway scholar Silvio Calabi has written several books about Hemingway's sporting life, including "Hemingway's Guns". He will speak at the Camden Public Library on Tuesday, May 2 and 7:00 pm about his research. His research includes delving into the many gun references in Hemingway's letters which are archived at the John F. Kennedy Library. He is the firearms consultant to the Hemingway scholars who are studying the letter collection.
A writer, editor, and publisher for more than 30 years, Silvio Calabi lives on the coast of Maine and hunts around the world. He was a publishing executive for more than 25 years and has been editor-in-chief of both Shooting Sportsman and Fly Rod & Reel magazine's (and is now an editor-at-large for both). He is a Knight of the International Order of St. Hubertus, a member of Safari Club International and the Namibian Professional Hunting Association, and a director of the California Side By Side Society.
He has roamed the world on assignment since the 1970s and has written half a dozen books and hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles related to fine guns and shooting, hunting, fly-fishing and sporting travel.
