University College at Rockland Offers “Late-Start” Courses

Rockland, Maine - Busy work schedules, family responsibilities, fluctuating life situations and an extended tourist season can make it difficult for people to begin college classes at the start of the traditional fall semester. For those who can’t begin classes in September, University College at Rockland offers a variety of UMS online courses that begin in October.

The UMS offers more than ¬¬40 Late-Start online courses.  These courses cover the same amount of material as the 14-week courses, offer the same number of credits and satisfy the same requirements for students working toward a degree or certificate.

Fall 2012 Late Start course offerings include music, literacy, nursing, philosophy, psychology, sociology, political science, education, information technology and more.

“Late-start courses work for people who need flexible scheduling, including many adults who can’t enroll in classes before their children return to school in the fall,” said Deborah Meehan, Director of University College at Rockland.

Registration for fall 2012 courses, including October Late-Start courses, is open and ongoing. For more information or to register, contact University College at Rockland at 596-6906 or visit www.learn.maine.edu/rockland and look for info on Late-Start courses.
