Augusta, Maine - The President of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) and Nevada Secretary of State Ross J. Miller has appointed Secretary of State Charlie Summers as co-chair of the NASS Company Formation Task Force of the Business Services Committee. Secretary Miller has said that this year's committee leaders represent those with a strong commitment to the association and its mission.
The Business Services Committee educates and informs NASS members about state practices regarding corporate registrations; electronic business filings; notarizations; Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings; business identity theft awareness and prevention; and follows the activities of relevant federal agencies and congressional committees. As part of this committee the NASS Company Formation Task Force is further dedicated to examining state company formation procedures and developing relevant and meaningful recommendations for state and federal consideration. This goal includes identifying state-based responses to concerns regarding the collection of beneficial ownership information and to notify Congress and relevant federal agencies of shared recommendations and solutions.
Committee leadership assignments are based on member preferences and experience, as well as criteria established by NASS by-laws. This year's committee co-chairs will serve until July 2013. "It's an honor to co-chair this Task Force of the Business Services Committee. I look forward to working with my fellow Secretaries of State on fair business solutions and reasonable recommendations for businesses and the states," said Secretary Summers.
