Blue Hill, Maine - Sedgwick cookbook author and award winning food journalist Brooke Dojny, and her son Matt Dojny, who has just debuted his first novel and lives in Brooklyn, NY, will discuss their recently published books on Tuesday August 14th, at 7:00 PM at the Blue Hill Public Library. Dojny and Dojny will interview each other and talk about the writing process.
Brooke Dojny, a James Beard award-winning cookbook author, specializes in New England cooking and has recently published Lobster!: 55 Fresh & Simple Recipes for Everyday Eating (Storey Publishing, 2012). She has also written The New England Cookbook (1999), The New England Clam Shack Cookbook (2003, revised 2008), Dishing Up Maine (2006), and New England Home Cooking (2011). She currently writes a weekly column in the Portland Press Herald and is a frequent contributor to Down East Magazine.
Matt Dojny’s book, The Festival of Earthly Delights (Dzanc Books, 2012), a seriocomic novel set in an imaginary Southeast Asian country, has been compared to the works of J.D. Salinger, Kurt Vonnegut and Kingsley Amis and was described as “hilarious” and “moving” by the Los Angeles Times. In the story, Boyd Darrow, has recently moved to “Puchai” with his unfaithful girlfriend to give their relationship a second chance. His adventures, and misadventures, are relayed in a series of letters that tell the story.
Books will be available at the event for sale and signing. For more information, contact the Library at 374-5515. In keeping with the title of Brooke’s new book, lobster snacks will be served at the event!
