Diane Getty’s fabric marvels are on display at the Camden Public Library’s Picker Room through the end of August. The exhibit, “Bits and Pieces: Mixed Media Collage and Assemblage” is a collection of art quilts and other three-dimensional artwork. Getty will host a “closing reception” for the exhibit on Friday afternoon, August 31, at 4:00 pm.
In an artist’s statement, Getty explained, “I am a very materialistic person. By materialistic I mean that ‘stuff’ of little or no inherent value can mean a great deal to me. In ‘Bits & Piece’ I enshrine treasures ranging from pills to security envelopes to vintage dolls. The media are as varied as the materials.”
