Ellsworth, Maine - The Grand, downtown Ellsworth’s historic 1938 art-deco theatre, is excited to announce the program from its 2012 School of Performing Arts Summer Theatre Camp for youth, ages 7-11. Directed by Adam Cousins and Katie Toole, the show written by the participating teens from this year’s Teen Camp based on classic children’s stories will be performed on Friday August 17th at 7pm and Saturday August 18th at 12pm.
The stories being adapted consist of:
• "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"- the classic story of false alarms
• "The Emperor's New Clothes"- Hans Christian Anderson’s tale of royal vanity and pride.
• "The Hare & the Hedgehog"- The Brothers Grimm take on Aesop’s “The Hare and the Tortoise”.
• "The Lion & the Mouse"- Aesop’s take on the quality of mercy.
• "The Princess & the Pea"- Hans Christian Anderson’s look at how sensitive royalty can be.
So bring a friend. Share the experience of classic children’s stories theatrically adapted by kids for kids at The Grand on Friday August 17th at 7pm and Saturday August 18th at 12pm.
Please note the performances’ tickets prices are $10 for General Admission, with $7 for Youth 12 and under.
About Theatre Camp Directors Adam Cousins and Katie Toole: Adam is the president of Ten Bucks Theater Company of Bangor, and has performed in several shows and readings during their season, in addition to making appearances on the stages of Penobscot Theater, The Grand, and Bangor Community Theater. Katie, as well as being a member of Ten Bucks, has taught and co-directed the Drama Club at Ellsworth High School and currently teaches at Conners-Emerson School in Bar Harbor. Both Adam and Katie are assisted in this production by Callie Cox with Musical Direction by Michelle Dokka.
