Garden Kickstart‏

Camden/Rockport, Maine - On Saturday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. in the greenhouse at Merryspring Nature Center, Cindy Gerry will lead a workshop on seed starting for garden planting.

Gardening can be economical and fun, and you can start early by growing your own vegetables, annuals, perennials and herbs from seed.  In this hands-on workshop, enjoy the warmth of Merryspring’s greenhouse as Cindy talks about timing and temperature, soil and water, problems and solutions, while demonstrating basic planting techniques.  Put those seed catalogues and dreams to use by choosing a few packets of seeds to bring to the class, whether tried-and-true, heirloom, or hot new hybrid varieties.  Hundreds of seed packets are now available in the local nurseries and seed exchanges, and Merryspring also offers a limited selection of seeds, free of charge, to participants.  All necessary materials will be provided.

Gerry  has served as Garden Manager of Merryspring Nature Center since 2013 and operates her own independent gardening business.

This class is part of the Weekend Workshop series at Merryspring sponsored by The First. The cost of this workshop is $20 with a discounted rate of $15 for members of Merryspring. Pre-registration is required and class space is limited. To sign up, please contact Merryspring at 236-2239 or by email at info@merryspring.org .
