KEENE, N.H. -- Keene State College tallied a goal in each period on the
way to a 2-1 field hockey decision against the University of New England
on Saturday afternoon (Sep.1) at the Owl Athletic Complex.
Things were scoreless for the initial 30 minutes before Kayla Klein put a
low-angle shot from the left side just within the right post to give
the Owls (1-0) an edge. The cushion was doubled in the 45th minute when
Ally McCall got into the scoring mix.
Rachel Loseby recorded four of her five saves in the 2nd half to keep
the Nor'easters (0-1) in-check and pick up the goalkeeping win.
UNE got on the board after time expired, converting the fourth in a sequence of penalty corners. Bailey Lynch sent in her first collegiate marker at the right post.
The Nor'easters, who finished ahead in shots (8-7) and corners (13-6), received a couple saves from Liz Sargent.
UNE is slated to visit No.15 Bowdoin College on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
