Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine invites businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2017 presented by Camden National Bank, Hannaford and United Insurance. More than 600 teams of bowlers will raise funds to support youth mentoring in Androscoggin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Somerset and Waldo Counties.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake events are held in four regions (Midcoast, Kennebec Valley, Central Maine and Penobscot County) with nights and weekend options at multiple bowling centers. The event is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ largest fundraising event of the year, involving hundreds of people raising pledges to support BBBS 1-to-1 youth mentoring programs in schools and local communities. Last year’s event raised over $286,000.
Funds raised through Bowl for Kids’ Sake play a critical role in creating and supporting hundreds of carefully made matches between high school students and their Littles in school-based programs, and support strong and enduring relationships between community Bigs and their Littles. All services are free of charge to children and families. Last year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine served more than 700 youth facing adversity.
Businesses and individuals can register bowling teams online at bbbsmidmaine.org, select a desired bowling date and time and create personal fundraising pages where supporters can make electronic donations. Bowlers can also download pledge forms to collect donations to bring to the event. Teams that raise $500 or more will receive this year’s “Go Big or Go Home” t-shirts at the event. Individuals who raise $100 or more are entered into a grand prize drawing. Recognizing supporters as heroes, this year’s theme is “Super Heroes” and teams are invited to dress in super hero costumes. There will be hourly bowling prizes awarded and a special recognition event for high fundraisers.
