Financial Resources for Adult Learners January 30
Family Development Accounts Offer Matching Funds
Are you considering a return to school but don’t know how to get started? “Yes, You Can Go Back to School: Financial Resources for Adult Learners” will be offered by educator Linda Buckmaster of Women, Work and Community at the Camden Public Library on Thursday, January 30 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. The program is free and open to adults of all ages and backgrounds.
This workshop will help you learn about financial options for your education and identify the steps you need to take. You will hear about how to apply for Federal Financial Aid and learn how to wisely use student loans to meet your goals.
Also discussed will be the special Family Development Account (FDA) Matched Savings program for qualified Knox County residents over age 18. The program allows participants who meet the guidelines to contribute up to $1,000 of their own money, which will matched $4 to each $1 saved, for school expenses. The Knox County Education FDA is a collaboration among the Maine Family Development Account Coalition, the Worthington Family Foundation, and Women, Work and Community.
Registration for the workshop is required by January 28. To register or for more information, contact Linda Buckmaster at Women, Work and Community at 596-2615 or lsbuck@maine.edu. You can visit the website at www.womenworkandcommunity.org.
