Rockport, Maine - Bay Chamber Concerts is this year’s sponsor of The Third Annual "Great Cabin Fever Escape Show", presented by John Orlando. The show is scheduled for Friday, February 7, 2014 from 7:30 PM to Midnight at the Rockport Opera House. The performance features the international touring act The Wiyos, recent openers for Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp.
The Wiyos have been rolling for over a decade. They were one of the first "old-timey" bands to emerge on the national scene in the first wave of acoustic bands riding the renewed popularity of early swing jazz, rural folk, old-time blues and Appalachian music. Touring in the US and Europe, and numerous critically acclaimed albums and EPs, landed them a full 28-day summer tour as openers of the 2009 Bob Dylan Show. The Wiyos were also featured in the BBC television documentary, "Folk America - Hollerers, Stompers and Old-Time Ramblers".
Opening the evening are special guests, Midcoast's own, The Dolphin Strikers and DJ Terry Frank. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 day of show. This performance is 21+ with positive ID required at the event. There will be a cash bar and prize giveaways. Tickets available at the following locations: Bay Chamber Concerts, HAV II, Zoot Coffee, Hope General Store and Rock City Coffee. A portion of the proceeds will benefit WERU. To buy tickets on-line or FMI visit baychamberconcerts.org, or call presenter John Orlando at 207-706-6040.
