Rockland, Maine - On Thursday August 30th at 6:30 PM, The Rockland Library presents an evening of Poetry with the Trilateral Poetry Consortium: Dave Morrison, Chris Fahy and Mary Jane Martin
Join us for an engaging evening of Poetry featuring three of Maine’s finest literary voices.
It has been rumored in some quarters that Dave Morrison’s great grandmother was the illegitimate child of Dylan Thomas' cousin and Emily Dickenson's grandniece. Neither of them had any idea of Rock & Roll, but they were not bad at using language. It has also been said that Morrison is like a carpenter missing fingers – do you worry about his ability or applaud his devotion? Morrison’s poems have been featured in literary magazines, anthologies, and have been read on Garrison Keillor’s National Public Radio program, The Writer’s Almanac. His seventh book, Clubland (Fighting Cock Press), a collection of poems about rock bars written in verse, was published in 2011.
Christopher Fahy is the author of 10 novels, 3 collections of short stories, one book of poetry and one home repair book. His most recent novel is the satire RED TAPE. He has won the Maine Arts Commission Fiction Competition, a grand prize in Atlanta Review's International Poetry Competition and has been given the University of Maine at Augusta's Distinguished Achievement Award. His illustrated novella The Christmas Star will be published later this year.
Mary Jane Martin loves to see the humor in life. She likes to insert it in her writings when possible. She finds inspiration from an ever-growing family, as well as the many people she meets. Mary Jane won her first and only poetry contest at the age of 12 and has ever since loved the magic of words. She has been published in Off the Coast and, as a member of the the Moody Mountain Writers, in Stone in My Pocket.
Special accommodations for persons with disabilities can be made with 48 hours notice. Please call the Library at 594-0310.
This is one in a continuing Thursday series of literary, film and cultural offerings sponsored by the Rockland Public Library & The Friends of the Rockland Public Library. Admission is free.
