Rolling Stones Hit the HD Screen

Damariscotta, Maine - Thursday, August 16 at 7 PM, for one night only, will bring a rare glimpse of a rock legend to the Lincoln Theater screen in Damariscotta.

The Rolling Stones: Some Girls, Live in Texas is a rare concert movie that captures this world–famous band at the height of their musical career. The Rolling Stones 1978 USA tour, in support of that year’s Some Girls album, is considered by fans to be one of their very best. The tour followed immediately on the release of the Some Girls album and by the time the band arrived in Texas in mid-July the album had hit the No.1 spot on the US charts. The tour took a “back to basics” approach, with the band and their music very much at the forefront, and little or no elaborate staging.

Filmed on July 18, 1978 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, this concert is typical of the tour, with The Rolling Stones delivering a raw, energetic performance in front of a crowd that is clearly loving the show. Many of the tracks from Some Girls are included in the live set with a sprinkling of Stones classics from earlier albums. Originally shot on 16mm film, the footage has been carefully restored and the sound remixed and re-mastered by Bob Clearmountain from the original multitrack tapes. This is undeniably the Rolling Stones at the peak of their form.

Featuring many Stones classics including: “Honky Tonk Woman,” “Tumbling Dice,” “Brown Sugar,” “Jumpin Jack Flash,” “Miss You” and “Beast of Burden.”  The film also includes a rare interview with Sir Mick Jagger, filmed in August 2011.  Capturing both the raw talent of the band and the excitement of the audience, the film is a testament to the power of live music and the Rolling Stones as true rock

legends.  Tickets are $15 (Youth 18 and under $5).  For additional information, please visit the theater’s website at www.atthelincoln.org or call 563-3424.
