Lincoln Theater Happenings

Happenings

Summertime and the living is far from easy with so many things going on.  We are still reconstructing from our sprinkler mishap, but are open for business with lots of exciting events this week.

Rolling Stones: Some Girls, Live in Texas
Thursday night August 16 at 7 PM Lincoln Theater presents a rarely seen concert film featuring the Rolling Stones at the height of their fame. Rolling Stones: Some Girls, Live in Texas was shot in Fort Worth, Texas, as part of the Rolling Stones’ 1978 USA tour. Capturing both the raw talent of the band and the excitement of the audience, the film is a testament to the power of live music and the Rolling Stones as true rock legends.  This updated version has re-mastered audio and carefully restored footage. With this edition, the energy going through that stadium in Texas jumps off the screen, creating an unforgettable cinematic and musical experience. The film also includes an interview with Sir Mick Jagger (filmed in 2011), discussing the band’s impact and providing an inside perspective on this exceptional film.
To Rome with Love (R)
This Wood Allen comedy is set in one of the world's most enchanting cities. The film brings us into contact with a well-known American architect reliving his youth; an average middle-class Roman who suddenly finds himself Rome's biggest celebrity; a young provincial couple drawn into separate romantic encounters; and an American opera director endeavoring to put a singing mortician on stage. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page and Alec Baldwin. Directed by Woody Allen. Rated R.  Opens Friday August 17 and plays nightly at 7 PM through Wednesday August 22 and with a matinee showing Sunday August 19 at 2 PM.
Free Family Concert: featuring the Brentano String Quartet
Presented by the Damariscotta River Association and the Salt Bay Chamberfest. Conductor Mark Mandarano, Salt Bay Chamberfest's dynamic and popular pre-concert lecturer and program annotator, will emcee the proceedings, which will premiere ten student compositions from the Music & Nature Camp, as well as pastoral works by Dvorak and Haydn, played by the Brentano String Quartet. Children of all ages are welcome!  Live on stage Saturday August 18  at 10 AM.
