Students of the MidCoast Interact Club to give Slide Talk on Safe Passage in Guatemala


Members of the Interact Club recently visited Safe Passage in Guatemala to work with the children there. They will give a slide presentation of their adventures on Tuesday, March 29, at 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The Midcoast Interact Club will give a slide talk on their recent trip to Central America on Tuesday evening, March 29, at 7:00 pm, at the Camden Public Library. Interact is a division of Rotary International for students ages 12 to 18 interested in addressing community needs through hands-on service. The Interact team traveled to Guatemala to work with Safe Passage, an organization that empowers the poorest, at-risk children of families working in the community of the Guatemala City Garbage Dump, by creating opportunities and fostering dignity through the power of education.


There were nine Midcoast students who made the trip accompanied by and four chaperones. The students were Riley Schecter, Isabel Swanson, Ben Winchenbach, Molly Mann, Harper Gordon, Ginny Laurita, Nat Lawson, Kathryn Snyder, and Mikaylafaith Smith, and the chaperones were Karen Hansen, Jenny Roberts, Dominique Gordon, and Esperanza Stancioff.
