Five Polar Bears Qualify For NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Five Bowdoin College athletes have earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, March 11-12, at Grinnell College in Iowa.

Seniors Katherine Krupp and Addison Carvajal, as well as sophomore Sarah Kelley, qualified for the women's championship. Senior Jacob Ellis and sophomore Brian Greenberg qualified for the men's meet.

Women's Qualifiers
  • Sarah Kelley will make her first trip to indoor nationals after qualifying in the mile. Kelley owns the third best time in the mile in Division III this season (4:56.34). The prelims for the mile will be at 1:45 on Friday afternoon
  • Katie Krupp, who has broken her own school record on several occasions this winter, qualified in the triple jump with a distance of 11.67 meters. She is seeded 11th in the nation entering the meet. The women's triple jump will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday
  • Addison Carvajal qualified for the second-straight year for the indoor championship in the pentathlon. Her qualifying score of 3,415 is seeded fifth in the nation entering the meet. The pentathlon begins on Friday morning at 10:30 with the 60 hurdles
Men's Qualifiers
  • Senior Jacob Ellis earned a trip to the championship by qualifying for the 800 meter race. His time of 1:53.23 is seeded 12th in Division III and he will compete in the preliminaries on Friday at 4:05 p.m.
  • Sophomore triple jumper Brian Greenberg will make his NCAA debut after qualifying with the 12th-best distance in the nation this winter (14.42 meters). The men's triple jump is scheduled to get underway on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
