WHITINGHAM, Vermont - Husson freshman Meridith Blessard has been named the North Eastern Athetic Conference (NEAC) East Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Blessard went 3-0 in both singles and doubles this past week. The Lincoln, Maine, native was very strong at the No. 1 position for the Eagles, as she only dropped nine games in singles and six games with partner Katie Pratt in doubles. Husson captured wins over Thomas (Maine) 8-1, Johnson State (Vt.) 7-2 and Lyndon State (Vt.) 8-1 to post a 3-0 record in NEAC play last week.
Blessard is 4-0 in No. 1 singles this season. She and Pratt are 4-0 in No. 2 doubles.
The first-year program is 4-0 overall and sits atop the NEAC East at 3-0.
