“A Gift of Laughter”

“A Gift of Laughter” May 3 at Camden Public Library

The Camden Public Library will host speaker Michael Paul Lund on “A Gift of Laughter: The Classic Men of Comedy,” on Sunday afternoon, May 3, at 2:00 pm. The talk will feature the famous routines of some of the funniest Americans of the 20th century, including Jimmy Durante, Steve Allen, Tom Lehrer, Alan Sherman, Jack Paar, and Woody Allen. Michael Lund promises lots of fun and laughter, comedy songs, classic routines, and rare live recorded club performances, with lots of nostalgic memories from the fifties and sixties. “Every routine will be down-memory-lane!” says Lund. Dagney Ernest will introduce the program and add her own “Gift of Laughter” to the afternoon.

Michael Lund has delivered illustrated music talks all over the united States, and now takes a turn toward the classics of comedy. He has done radio commentary on commercial stations coast to coast, including two-hour specials on WGBH-FM in Boston. He regularly writes music criticism for major record companies in the form of liner notes that accompany classical CD re-issues by legendary performers.

The program will be approximately 90 minutes with intermission at the halfway point.
