Pickup Truck VS Tractor Trailer Collision Closes RT 1 By Yankee Motel Sunday Evening (UPDATED)

Warren, Maine - The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred on Rt 1 in Warren near the Waldoboro town line at approx 5:20 yesterday afternoon resulting in Rt. 1 being shut down for reconstruction at the accident scene. The accident involved a 2001 Mack, tractor trailer truck and a 1987 Dodge truck.    The driver of the tractor trailer, 48 year old Aaron Grindle of Waldoboro was not injured.

The driver of the pickup truck, 55 year old Cassandra Bean of Alfred ME was travelling south on Rt. 1 and lost control of her vehicle due to the slippery road conditions.  Bean crossed the center line and struck the rear tires of the tractor trailer truck.  Bean was taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in serious condition.  Her passenger, 57 year old Lauren Morrissette of Alfred ME was taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in Critical condition and then transported to Maine Medical Center in via Waldoboro Emergency Medical Services.

Both women were ejected from the vehicle and were not wearing their seat belts.  Two dogs that were also in the pickup truck were ejected, one has died of its’ injuries.  

Speed was a contributing factor in the accident, along with road and weather conditions.

The crash is still under investigation.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash and was assisted by Waldoboro PD, Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, and Maine State Police, as well as Warren and Waldoboro Fire and Rescues.
