KENNEBEC ESTUARY LAND TRUST MEETS $25,000 CHALLENGE GRANT

Launches Landscape Legacy Endowment Fund
Bath, Maine - As part of our 25th Anniversary, the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT)  launched the Landscape Legacy Endowment Fund to support conservation of the estuary for generations to come.  The Maine Community Foundation awarded KELT a $25,000 RAM Island 25/25 Endowment Challenge Grant which we met with $25,000 from 57 KELT members and supporters.  The success was celebrated at KELT’s recent annual meeting.

KELT Executive Director Carrie Kinne exclaims, “Our members and supporters responded swiftly and boldly to the challenge donating the $25,000 in just under six weeks.  This shows dedication we all can be proud of.”

The Landscape Legacy Endowment is being created with the purpose of providing significant, consistent, and permanent funding for our mission to conserve, restore, and instill appreciation of the land and water resources of the Kennebec Estuary to benefit today’s communities and future generations.  Our endowed funds are managed in consultation with professional investment advisors.

The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust is a membership supported organization dedicated to protecting the land, water and wildlife of the Kennebec Estuary.  The organization maintains nine preserves for public enjoyment and has protected 2,505 acres of land since founding in 1989.
