Escovedo Rocks Strand as Spring Series Starts April 4‏

Rockland, Maine - Americana/Roots-Rock musician Alejandro Escovedo returns to the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., with his band The Sensitive Boys, Thursday, April 4 at 7:30 pm, kicking-off a new Strand Spring Concerts Series.

The legendary Texas based singer-songwriter is one with his muse and his music, having spent a lifetime traversing the bridge between words and melody.

Escovedo is a resolute voice that weathers the emotional terrain of our lives, its celebrations and despairs, landmines and blindsides, upheavals and beckoning distractions, in search for ultimate release and the healing truth of honesty. His songs speak of his hard-won personal experience, an enduring spirit of positivity, potential and faith, an intertwined mix of mature wisdom and perpetually youthful spirit, and a panorama of inspirations gleaned from his lifelong devotion to rock’n’roll.

He has made his mark by mixing the best of punk, folk, roots rock and Americana. The result is a formidable legacy matched by a continually restless quest to draw in new and different dimensions and follow avenues of expression he has yet to explore.

Escovedo’s latest recording- Big Station (2012) keeps true to his genre-blending roots, and features the full-throttled rocker "Man of the World," along with the Spanish-language "Sabor a Mi," a classic Latin pop song that dates back to the middle of the 20th century.

Tickets: $20, general admission, all ages. Tickets are on sale now. The Strand’s Spring Concert Series is sponsored by Maine Magazine. Upcoming artists include Carolina Chocolate Drops Apr 11, David Mallett and The Mallett Brothers Band Apr 20, Kris Allen Apr 26, and Steep Canyon Rangers May 4.
