Using Plants for Skin Care

Gardener Denise DeSpirito will lead a presentation on using plants for skin care at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, June 11 at 12:00 pm.

The skin is the largest human organ and often considered an indicator of health. In “Plants for Perfect Skin”, Denise will speak about some plants that can be can be grown or foraged that can address some topical skin issues. Plants covered will include figwort, cleavers, chickweed, burdock, and others, as well as how to create topical preparations used to soothe common skin issues.

This program is part of Denise’s Backyard Herbalism series, which will continue as part of the Tuesday Talk schedule throughout the summer.

This is an outdoor program. Guests should wear weather appropriate clothing.

Denise DeSpirito is gardener and herbalist. She has grown herbs all over the Northeast, including Avena Botanicals in Rockport, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in New York, and Farmacy Herbs in Rhode Island. She currently serves as Garden Manager at Merryspring.

This lecture is part of the Spring Talk series at Merryspring. Admission to Tuesday talks is $5, with free admission for members of Merryspring.
