Camden Public Library Events August 7 through August 21

Thursday, August 7

The Alice Limoges Band performs for the Summer Concert Series, 7:00 pm in the Camden Amphitheatre. Bring blankets or chairs for seating; if the weather is rainy the concert will be indoors. Sponsored by the Camden Public Library and Allen Insurance & Financial.


Friday, August 8

Nine-person trombone ensemble “The Gazebones” in free concert in the Camden Amphitheatre, 1:30 pm.

Camden Shakespeare Festival  presents “As You Like It” in the Camden Amphitheater, 6:00 pm. For reservations call 207-464-0008; tickets are also available at the library and at the door. The Camden Public Library is the venue sponsor for the Shakespeare performances.

Tuesday, August 12

Regular meeting of the Reading Group of the Camden Philosophical Society, 4:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome.

Maine Historical Society presentation on “The Maine Memory Network,” how to participate online and contribute photos and local history. 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.


Wednesday, August 13

Wednesday in the Park concert features Miners Creek Band, bluegrass and more, hosted by Camden Parks & Recreation, 5:00 pm in the Camden Amphitheatre.


Thursday, August 14

Dana and Susan Robinson in a free concert in the Camden Amphitheater, 7:00 pm, hosted by the Camden Public Library, featuring guitar playing, banjo frailing, fiddling, and harmony singing. Bring blankets or chairs for seating; the concert will be indoors if it is rainy. Sponsored by Allen Insurance & Financial.


Saturday, August 16

Ninth Annual Children’s Book Fair by the Sea at the Camden Public Library, 1:00-4:00 pm, with authors and illustrators Lucinda Hathaway; Jane Cowen-Fletcher; Chris Van Dusen; Josh Aves; and Fran Hodgkins.


Sunday, August 17

Free performance in the Camden Amphitheatre by Jason Dean, featuring electronic music. 1:00 pm.


Monday, August 18

Free performance of “Pantalone for Governor” in the Camden Amphitheatre by the commedia dell’arte actors of the Rolling Stock Company, 3:30 pm.

The Monday Night Jazz Orchestra (Mojo) performs a free concert in the Camden Amphitheatre, 6:00 pm. Bring blankets or chairs for seating.


Tuesday, August 19

 “Just Teachers” band performs concert in the Camden Amphitheatre to benefit heart patient, 5:30 pm. (August 20 rain date).


Tuesday, August 19

Dave Cheever, Maine State Archivist, presents “One Month – How Maine Prepared for Civil War,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, as part of the library’s Civil War Series.


Thursday, August 21

“Lincoln: Evolution of a President” public lecture by Erin Bishop, former Education Director of the Lincoln Library and Museum in Illinois, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, as part of the library’s Civil War Series.
