37th Annual New England Auto Auction Preview Week August 11 through 15 at OHTM

Owls Head, Maine - The Owls Head Transportation Museum’s 37th Annual New England Auto Auction is August 16 and the public is invited to a weeklong preview event Monday, August 11 through Friday, August 15. Described as “one of the greatest car shows of the season,” auction preview week provides potential bidders with an opportunity to inspect vehicles in advance of the auction while giving the public a unique opportunity to view a display of up to 200 fine vehicles consigned for the sale. This spectacular exhibition requires the dedication of the museum’s Main Display, East Wing and the entirety of Runway 17.

Long reputed for including vehicles of all marques, vintages and styles, The New England Auto Auction is the
Museum’s largest annual fundraiser. Lauded as a “worthy alternative to Pebble Beach,” and lauded for featuring cars of “great variety from the Brass Era through the 1980s,” the auction has been featured in publications including The Wall Street Journal and Hemmings Motor News. An institution in the New England automotive community, this event draws vehicles and bidders from the world over.

“We are elated to present an exceptional selection of vehicles at the 37th Annual New England Auto Auction including a large number of notable pieces,” said Executive Director Russ Rocknak. “From early examples like the 1909 Sears Runabout, to classics like the 1948 Chrysler Town & Country and 1954 Corvette, iconic muscle cars like the 1969 Mach I Mustang, impeccable trucks including a beautifully restored 1960 Ford F100 and everything in between.  We have several cars of significant provenance including a 1923 H.C.S. Touring Car that was formerly part of the A.K. Miller collection. We’ve absolutely delivered on our reputation for having great diversity, and this year that diversity is achieved with vehicles of remarkable quality.”

August 11 through August 15 is a special event week the museum and doors will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Event admission rates of $16 will be observed through auction day, as always youth under 18 will be admitted free.

Bidder registration will be available onsite from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15 and preview and registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the auction, Saturday, August 16, and will extend through the conclusion of the sale. Bidder registration is $75 and includes an auction catalog, free admission for two adults to the auction preview and two seats in the reserved bidders section on auction day. The fun isn’t limited to just serious bidders, all auto enthusiasts will enjoy the festive atmosphere and amazing selection of cars on display during preview week. Weather permitting, biplane rides will be offered for sale and free Model T rides will be available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1 p.m., and from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Spectators are also encouraged to attend the New England Auto Auction on August 16 where a high-drama, all day sale of up to 200 vehicles is sure to keep bidders and onlookers on the edge of their seats.
