Friday, January 17th at noon in Meeting Room #5
Portland, Maine - Local poet Carolyn Gelland will read from her new book of poetry, Dream-Shuttle at the Friday Local Author Series at noon on January 17th in Meeting Room #5.
Gelland moved to Maine to read and write in a solitude she could only dream about in New York City. Her first book of poems, ‘Four-Alarm House,’ was published in February 2012. Her poems are widely published in literary journals.
Gelland worked as a Norwegian translator and ran a small art gallery while living in New York City. Now she performs readings of her poems – as well as poems by her late husband, Kenneth Frost – all over Maine and elsewhere.
Praise for Dream-Shuttle:
“The poetry and the passion, the world around us in our shared vigor and transience, is embodied in Carolyn Gelland’s poems.” –Henry Braun
“Wilton poet offers essences of language and feeling…a powerful sense of pith…”
–Bangor Daily News
“…images of great delicacy and daring…boldly self-contained, compact, painterly and yet invitingly inlaid with surrealist intimations.” –Robert Farnsworth
