The beat goes on with acclaimed musicians re-imagining The Beatles
Kittery, Maine - On Friday, November 22, 2013 at 8pm, The Dance Hall in Kittery will be hosting their third 4TH FRIDAY FORUM, a series created to give artists the opportunity to colloborate, experiment, improvise explore and create while giving audiences the excitement of experiencing this live process in a beautiful intimate environment.
MetaBeat Live @ The Dance Hall is a project created by life-long Beatles fans Les Harris, Jr, and Mark Shilansky, to explore the music of the Beatles and their contemporaries in an improvisational and historically interesting context. The repertoire includes songs recorded and written by the Beatles, as well as Beatles solo material and collaborations, and music which was inspiring to the Beatles. The "Meta" aspect of the band comes in the arrangements, as an early Beatles tune will be rendered in a late-period style, or vice-versa, and in medleys and "mashups" in the style of the Giles and George Martin remix project "Love." This band should appeal to die hard Beatles fans, who will revel in the musical references and attention to detail, as well as fans of jazzy, improvised music and groove.
The band features:
Mark Shilansky - keyboards, voice
Les Harris, Jr - drums, voice
Eric Byers - guitars, voice
Marty Ballou - bass, voice
David Thorne Scott - voice, keyboards, trumpet
w/special guest Aubrey Harris - bass, voice, guitar
The show starts at 8pm and tickets are $10 in advance and $15 in door.
