Camden/Rockport, Maine - Camden bat enthusiast Annie Kassler will lead an evening family program on bats at Merryspring Nature Center on Monday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m.
Often misunderstood, bats are one of the most compelling and unique Maine mammals. Kassler will expound details about bats – from their physiology to their behavior and hunting methods through echolocation. After an indoor lecture, the group will head outside for a “bat walk” to observe and monitor bats flying in the Merryspring dusk.
Kassler is a speaker with Conservation International and the Bat World Sanctuary. She has developed connections with bat scientists and enthusiasts throughout Maine and the United States. She also is a full-time broker for the Camden Real Estate Company and has a background in academia.
The cost of this special evening program is free for members with a nominal charge of $5 for non-members.
Merryspring is a member-supported, non-profit nature education center and park located at the end of Conway Road just off Rt. 1 by the Hannaford shopping plaza in Camden. For more information, call Merryspring at 236-2239 or visit the website at www.merryspring.org
