Land Trust Announces Last Movie and Munchies on Monday in Winter Series

Rockland, Maine - The Georges River Land Trust and The Highlands Coffee House, are hosting the last film of their winter series at 6:30 PM on Monday, April 6, 2015.

The final movie screening is: THE SEAL WHO CAME HOME

The true story of Andre, a two-day-old wild harbor seal who, in 1961, was rescued from certain death by Harry Goodridge, an arborist from Rockport, Maine. Over the next 25 years, Andre and Harry established a friendship that brought Andre into the world of humans without Andre’s ever having to sacrifice his wildness. The human world gave Andre shelter during the harsh New England winter, but staying wild at heart meant Andre had the know-how to make the 200-mile swim home to Rockport. This interspecies friendship weathered every kind of challenge, including, at the end, Andre’s blindness. Susan G. Crane, one of the Goodrich daughters, will be present for questions and answers after the film

The winter film series is part of the Georges River Land Trust Walks and Talks programming. Walks and Talks provide interesting topics to explore, a variety of adventures and activities for people of all ages, and are free and open to the public.

Organized in 1987, the Georges River Land Trust works to conserve the ecosystems and traditional heritage of the Georges River watershed region through permanent land protection, stewardship, education and outdoor experiences.
